This is one of those questions that keeps coming back. If you’ve been cycling for a while, you’ve probably been taught that cleaning your chain is a separate step. Degrease first. Then lube. Then wipe. But with hot waxing, the logic changes.

Very solid question. Because the socket in Australia is not the same as the one in Europe. And the last thing you want is a brand new heater that you can’t plug in. So here’s the good news...

Both do the same core job: they hot wax your chain and give you that smooth, clean Cyclowax drivetrain. The new Performance Wax Heater builds on everything we learned from the Original. You could say they’re a bit like brothers. The Performance Heater is simply the next step in the evolution.

GCN Tech, the biggest cycling YouTube channel in the world, published a video about hot waxing chains. And both of our heaters were featured. How cool is that? If you’re into cycling tech, drivetrain efficiency, or just love a clean chain, it’s a great watch. Ollie from GCN dives deep into why waxing chains works, how the process has evolved, and why purpose-built tools make it easier than ever.

“Hey Greg, can we bring a Cyclowax customer to your house in Denia for a few days?” That's what we asked Greg Van Avermaet a few months ago. The idea was simple: give one Cyclowax rider the kind of cycling experience most people only dream about. A few days in Denia.Staying at Greg’s house. Riding the famous Coll de Rates together. A quick coffee ride with Johan Museeuw. And visiting the Lidl–Trek training camp. Not as spectators, but as part of the experience. What followed turned into one of the most memorable trips we’ve ever done at Cyclowax.

We wanted to give you a quick update on the Performance Wax Heater pre-orders. The response has been incredible. The first batch sold out almost instantly, and what followed was something we honestly didn’t expect.

The main topic at the biggest gravel event this year? Hot wax. A few years ago, hot wax was still considered niche. Something only a small group of cycling nerds was talking about. At Traka, it felt completely different.

Last weekend we went to Unbound. Beautiful gravel roads, dusty bikes, strong riders, coffee stops… and one thing we couldn’t stop noticing: Almost everyone was riding a hot waxed chain. Honestly, a year ago that would’ve been very different. Back then, hot wax still felt pretty niche. Now it feels like it’s becoming the standard. And after riding events like Traka & Unbound, it’s easy to understand why.

We built a custom hot wax corner at Lidl-Trek's service course. Because at Lidl-Trek, hot waxing has evolved into something much bigger than that. It's become a complete chain management system.

Giulio Ciccone won the King of the Mountains classification at the Giro d'Italia. As the official hot wax partner of Lidl-Trek, that's obviously something we're incredibly proud of.

Every year, we work closely with the mechanics at Lidl-Trek to prepare hundreds of chains for the biggest race on the cycling calendar. Every chain is stripped, cleaned and hot waxed before it ever reaches a race bike.
